Vela Science builds public infrastructure for bounded, reproducible scientific work with research agents. Agents may produce evidence. Verifiers may check it. Humans retain authority over scientific acceptance.
- Vela is the protocol and reference implementation for version-controlled scientific state: event logs, artifacts, Receipts, policy routing, deterministic replay, and protected human decisions.
- Canopus is the replaceable producer and runtime. It gives Codex a preregistered mission, bounds worker activity, invokes independent verifiers, and lands evidence through released Vela interfaces.
- Standalone frontiers are the Git custody sources for each scientific state machine. They remain separate repositories so every frontier has an independently clonable log, policy, replay surface, and history.
Vela Observatory at app.vela.space is an anonymous, read-only projection of those public frontiers. It can display evidence and pending review, but it cannot approve or mutate scientific state.
