When --read-data is requested for a hot/cold repository, first run the metadata check against the combined view and then open the cold repository for the data-pack check. The validated master key is reused so the user is not prompted twice.
Validation: cargo fmt --check; focused check_hot_cold test attempted in an isolated target; git diff --check.
