Thanks, although not working for me. In my case (XPS-16-9640), libcamhal-ipu6epmtl is the relevant package in ubuntu-drivers list. After installing + rebooting, Google Meet finds an "Intel MIPI Camera" in the joining page. But after joining it doesn't show anything, just saying "the camera might be blocked" (which I have allowed).
it should be working based on Ubutnu docs, your camera sensors is ov02c10, mind sharing some log with gst, or be sure uninstall any ipu6 ipu7 before install libcamhal-ipu6epmtl ?
I finally got my webcam working on my Dell XPS 16 9640 laptop with Ubuntu 26.04!
This is all you need:
sudo apt install ubuntu-oem-keyring
sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/dell-somerville.sources >/dev/null <<'EOF'
Types: deb
URIs: http://dell.archive.canonical.com/
Suites: noble
Components: somerville
Signed-By: /usr/share/keyrings/ubuntu-oem-keyring.gpg
EOF
sudo apt update
sudo apt install linux-modules-ipu6-generic v4l2loopback-dkms libcamhal0 libcamhal-ipu6epmtl gstreamer1.0-icamera v4l2-relayd
sudo usermod -aG video $USER
sudo reboot now
If camera is black right after a (cold) boot: The IPU6 can take ~50 s to finish its hardware authentication, and if v4l2-relayd claimed /dev/video0 before the camera was ready, its capture pipeline never started. Just restart the relay, no reboot needed: sudo systemctl restart v4l2-relayd
and you should be good.
finally!!! This has been such a pain with previous ubuntu versions.
