Summary

  • ci.yml's Publish Snapshot job is deliberately skipped in the template repo, so after Extract build-logic into a standalone conventions included build #9 no conventions snapshot was ever built.
  • Add a template-only snapshot-conventions.yml: on pushes to main touching conventions/** or gradle.properties (or manually), run the conventions tests and publish the -SNAPSHOT to Maven Central Snapshots.
  • Exclude it from files-sync.yml so it is never synced downstream; document it in TEMPLATE_README.md.

Notes

  • Central Snapshots must be enabled for the org.grails.plugins namespace.
  • Not exercised against Central yet. A local publish to a file repo produced only the main grails-plugin-conventions artifacts (no plugin markers).
  • After merging, run the workflow once via workflow_dispatch to publish the first snapshot.

Test plan

  • groovy .github/scripts/verify-repository.groovy
  • ./gradlew -p conventions publish to a local file repository
  • Run the workflow after merge and check the snapshot on Central

ci.yml's snapshot job is skipped in the template repo, so no conventions
snapshot was ever built. Add a template-only snapshot-conventions.yml that
publishes the -SNAPSHOT to Maven Central Snapshots on pushes to main, and
exclude it from files-sync.
