Purpose

Every desktop build shared one Chrome cache (<app-data-dir>/.cache)
so a new version inherited the previous one's
LocalStorage — stale unit/decimal choices keyed by old VMS UUIDs, the
disclaimer flag, workflow state.

The cache path is now based on the version
(<app-data-dir>/cache/<version>).

Each version starts clean and keeps its own LocalStorage, IndexedDB
and HTTP cache, so older versions can still be run side
by side without being reset. Nothing is copied or deleted; the legacy .cache
stays for pre-change versions.

db.sqlite and logs/ are still shared across versions.
