No action required: OTP28 remains unsupported for now #773

Description

@mkuratczyk

Hey folks,

RabbitMQ team here. RabbitMQ 4.2 RC images are currently built with Erlang/OTP27, which is great.
I just want to give you a heads up that we'll soon release RabbitMQ 4.2 final but Erlang/OTP28
will remain unsupported for now. So no action required, just leaving this here to ask NOT TO
bump Erlang at the last minute. That would break upgrades in some environments. Thank you!

    FTR, Erlang 28 is supported for new installations these days but rolling 27 ➡️ 28 upgrades are still not supported, so this image should stay on 27 until further notice.

    Can you please use OTP 29 for the RabbitMQ 4.4.x series? We plan to release RabbitMQ 4.4.0 later this month.

    RabbitMQ 4.3.6 is the first patch in the 4.3.x series supporting OTP 28. However, I suggest to keep using OTP 27 for the RabbitMQ 4.3.x docker images.

    Yes, thanks for the heads up. We'll use OTP 29 for the 4.4.x series. I'll make a PR to prepare.
