In the crop tool we don't seem to support the option to mirror an image.
Mirroring images can be very useful when working on images of persons, where the preference is that the person looks towards an (Wikipedia) article text.

I would be hesitant to add this.

For portraits, mirroring is not just a layout choice: it changes the factual appearance of the image. Facial asymmetry, hairstyle, clothing details, objects, text, and other contextual elements may all become incorrect.

On Commons and Wikipedia, I think the default should be to preserve a faithful representation of the original photograph. Cropping is already an editorial choice, but mirroring changes the content itself.

If someone really needs a mirrored derivative for a specific non-encyclopedic use, they can still create it outside CropTool, with a clear indication that the file is mirrored.
