Factory Droid: claude-fable-5-thinking-32000 intermittently falls back to Factory subscription / 402 #449
Description
Hi, I experience the following challenge ☕️... Does anybody know how to solve it? Would be happy to hear some hints. Has someone already worked out how to use Fable5 as a custom model within droid?
Problem
Using Factory Droid with VibeProxy and a custom Anthropic model:
claude-fable-5-thinking-32000
sometimes works for a while, but then Droid fails with:
BYOK Error: 402
No active subscription found.

You gotta explicitly set a compaction model in the Droid settings (/settings). Set it to something other than Fable, like Opus.

The 402 fallback happens when the thinking model's quota rejects the request and Droid reroutes to its own subscription — the comment above (setting a non-Fable compaction model) addresses the common case. If it still reproduces with that config on the latest release, please share the exact model name and the request path involved.
