Nemo Folder Preview: Mint-Y photo previews for Nemo folders

[klimt1982]

Hello everyone,

I would like to share Nemo Folder Preview, a small open-source project focused on Linux Mint Cinnamon and the Nemo file manager.

It generates photo previews directly inside Mint-Y folder icons. Instead of a plain folder icon, a photo folder can show a mosaic of one to four images.

Key features:

• Designed specifically for Nemo and Linux Mint Cinnamon.
• Uses the active Mint-Y icon theme automatically, or a selected Mint-Y variant.
• Supports one to four image previews per folder.
• Supports WebP and other Pillow-compatible image formats.
• Includes Spanish and English interface options, plus light, dark and system themes.
• Generates previews at the sizes requested by Nemo, including large icons.
• Available as a Debian package.

The project started as a focused fork of Cover Thumbnailer, removing its legacy music and generic-folder functionality in favor of a simpler photo-folder preview experience for Nemo.

The current release and installation package are available here:

I have tested it on a clean Linux Mint Cinnamon virtual machine, but I would really appreciate feedback from Mint users, especially regarding:

• Automatic thumbnail generation and refresh behavior.
• Different Mint-Y icon variants.
• Folders containing one, two, three or four photos.
• WebP images.
• Any issue with installation, appearance or Nemo integration.

This is not a request for inclusion in the Linux Mint repositories at this stage. My goal is to gather real-world feedback, improve the project and maintain it properly.

Thank you for taking a look.
