Okay, here is my attempt at updating the plugins.md file.
I created this post in the Issues section so I could close it when finished. I will paste this in a reply below.

SOME NOTES ABOUT CHANGES I MADE
-I separated each section in the Plugin Types: section
This way the links are in a list form that depict how they appear visually from top to bottom of this document. Hope this is okay.

-The WLX Plugins: GTK2/GTK3 section in this document was a little tricky because I felt making doubles of each description for each GTK2/GTK3 version would have been more confusing.
I just stacked the two links on top of each other and they share the same dot/bullet indicator, hopefully this works well.

dirsize_crap was unstable and could crash dc, so it was removed during one spring cleaning

first gtkimgview.wlx for gtk2 used the gtkimageview library, which is gtk2-only. gtkimgview for gtk3 was simply cobbled together and uses someones old google summer of code project. gtkimgview_recumbent, like qtimgview, is a silly reinvention of the wheel to make an image viewing plugin similar to gtkimgview for gtk2. its possible that recumbent will disappear from the name at some point and it replace the first gtk3 plugin, but thats not set in stone

gtk_socket_tst may replace gtk_socket, unless other issues are discovered

Firstly, this format is not very convenient for perception, the changes are not visible :) Maybe repository and minor changes to make it clear?

Maybe file formats should always be written in capital letters? It's a bit more traditional. For example, FB2 and M3U8.
Also algorithms? For example I often saw "LZ" instead of "lz".

Also "gvfs" > "GVfs".

Also maybe "Packer plugin based on bit7z lib" instead of "Packer plugin based on bit7z lib".

Okay, was not the reaction I was expecting.
I spent a good amount of time to make these updates, please do not let this effort go to waste for too long.
Especially because my updated distro was such a mess and still is, I could have put this effort into cleaning up some things on my system. Bad enough GTK3 DC let me down, spent a lot of time and effort on this as well before realizing it was not going to work for my use cases, had such high hopes :)
Obviously no one has to work on this right away of course but just reminding to hopefully not to forget about it.
I was told that making these updates would be helpful.
